Vinsanto is used in Tuscany as the wine that symbolizes hospitality: in fact, it is often served to guests between meals or after the last course with dessert or blue-veined cheeses. Vignamaggio’s Vinsanto is made with the traditional grapes of Malvasia del Chianti and Trebbiano. The bunches are dried for at least 3 months. After pressing, the must ferments in small, 100-liter oak barrels (named caratelli). These casks are positioned on the villa’s top floor and here the wine ages for 4 years. Vinsanto has a golden yellow color with amber reflections; its nose is reminiscent of honey and fresh fruit but it also offers hints of dried fruit, particularly of walnuts. The mouth feel is remarkably sweet but balanced by distinct acidity. Serving temperature: 15-16°C (59-61F)
